Bonus #SundayCookingAdventures: Roasted haricots verts with thyme

2014-10-25 12.03.52

This is a ridiculously easy side dish that offers good taste for little effort. We eat a lot of green beans, and these little haricots verts in the bag are very convenient. You don’t have to pick them, and they are prewashed. If you don’t want to roast them, you can cook them in a pan or steam them right in the bag in the microwave. Super convenient.

For this recipe, all you have to do is put them on the baking sheet, season, and roast for half an hour. Done. Done. Done.

So hope you enjoy this one. It’s not fancy but you could still pull it out for Thanksgiving if you’re looking for a lower calorie alternative to all the high fat green bean recipes.

Roasted haricots verts with thyme and olive oil

Cooking spray
2 to 3 8-ounce bags of haricots verts (such as GreenLine Quick & Easy)
1-2 tablespoons of olive oil
Garlic powder to taste
Black pepper to taste
Fresh thyme, about 10 sprigs, leaves stripped off stems and chopped

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Cover a half sheet pan in aluminum foil. Spray lightly with cooking spray. Put beans on baking sheet. Add olive oil to taste (I used two tablespoons.) Sprinkle with garlic powder and pepper to taste. Add thyme. Use your clean hands to toss ingredients together on pan.

3. Place plan in center of oven and roast for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and serve.
